The Sydney Super Workshop in conjunction with FILEX has become an annual destination for some of us forum members and this year proved to be the biggest of them yet!
The professionalism has been raised just another notch and puts a lot of shame on my own baby launches back home. The trainers were a lot less to be seen around this year with them spending every spare last moment practising and de-briefing. The effort showed.
Dramatic entrances, smoke filled air, lights and action. It was all there.
This year was the first year I participated in attack at FILEX. Having only trained in attack recently I never did it in previous years. But this year it was really special for me to attack with Lisa. We had an amazing team on stage and the first person who caught my eye was Vanessa Labort who I did my training with. Such an amazing person.
First we had Garry Hart suited up with a professional introduction and then the smoke filled the air and the curtains opened, straight into an energetic attack warmup. I was in so much awe and so filled with excitement that I didn’t remember what a knee repeater was. The rest of attack was just a blur, we screamed with excitement. Or at least we tried to since we were really just trying to suck in oxygen into our lungs. Then the tricep pushups……oh my………!!!! Jamie was next to me screaming out “option????” and I yelled back “noooooo!” then a bit later Jamie screamed out to me again, again I said no…………third time he didn’t even need to say it, he looked at me, I looked at him we nodded and both said “OPTION!” Later one of our gang from groupfitness.org forum told me that we should have all been wearing shirts with groupfitness.org on the back since apparently we were lining the front row.
Next up was combat. It was disappointing that Dan & Rach were unwell. Rach didn’t fly in to Australia, Dan was there for the education but didn’t present the class since they both caught some bug in Taiwan. Amazing class though with Shannon and Dorota leading the pack with only 15 mins warning that they were presenting. Awesome music, a switch knee combo, further progression on the Evasive Side Kick, affectionately called the ‘e-kick’ by Shannon. I might steal that.
I had a rest during Body Vive and Step, but both also looked amazing. It took me by surprise seeing Mark Nu’u doing Vive, only because I’ve never see him do anything but Step but he looked quite cute doing it. I’ll have a full report for these programs soon by others who participated in these (plus Jam and RPM).
BODYPUMP 62 proved to be just as awesome. The presentation was fantastic and I managed to keep my mind on the job for most of it. Normally when I do pump I find it very difficult to concentrate since I’ve got the concentration span of a peanut. But Tommy, Glen and the rest of the team did an amazing job. Some others I recognised were Donny Green, who I trained with (day 1 & 2) and Kim Knott who I did day 3 with. There was a third guy that presented tracks 7 and 8 that I didn’t recognise. Pump ended up breaking the Australia record for the largest class with a turnout of over 600 people. The energy in the room seriously rocked!
Charged with some extra energy, balance in the evening was quite blissful. Normally at workshops by the time I get to balance at the end I feel absolutely shattered and I go through the motions not really feeling or remembering anything at all till finally collapsing at the end. But this time round it made me feel energised. Maybe I’m fitter? Maybe there’s something special about this release 37? I don’t know but there were many in agreement that this balance made us feel renewed. The meditation/relaxation is different, but it instantly relaxed me more than I’ve ever felt during a meditation before. It was also so special to have Jackie there. She is a truly amazing person and she gives a gift that comes from her heart.
